What is Nu Pegasi
Nu Pegasi is an orange K-type giant whose radius has ballooned to twenty-three times the Sun's, a star that has consumed the hydrogen in its core and now shines with 144 times the solar luminosity. At 272 light-years inside the Winged Horse, its copper tone stands out against the cooler blue of the stars drawing the Square of Pegasus.
Where it is and when to see it
Nu Pegasi lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
