What is Biham
Biham shines in Pegasus, the winged horse born from the blood of Medusa. Its name, from the Arabic «sa'd al-bahaim», recalls «the luck of the two beasts», a medieval asterism to which this star once belonged. A white A-class star 92 light years away, its light departed when Mozart was a child astonishing European courts at the harpsichord.
Where it is and when to see it
Biham lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
