What is Mu Capricorni
Mu Capricorni is a nearby yellow-white star, about eighty-seven light-years away, in the head of the celestial Sea-Goat. It burns with a warmth similar to the Sun but with a slightly larger radius, typical of stars beginning to leave their youth behind. Its light, set out toward the end of the nineteenth century, now arrives from a discreet corner of the southern zodiac.
Where it is and when to see it
Mu Capricorni lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
