Deneb Algedi
Del
Variable starIts story
Deneb Algedi, «the goat's tail» in Arabic, closes the silhouette of Capricornus, the marine hybrid that Babylonian myth imagined as half goat and half fish. It lies surprisingly close, only 38 light years away, and is an eclipsing binary: two stars that cross each other periodically and dim its white light, producing a steady pulse detectable from Earth.
