Its story

44 Capricorni is a white A-type star pulsing at 436 light-years within the sea-goat, that hybrid creature of the ancient Sumerians and Babylonians combining the body of a goat with the tail of a fish. Hotter and more luminous than the Sun, its light crosses a region of sky where the ecliptic dips to its southernmost point each winter solstice, marking the famous tropic that bears its name.
