Its story
12 Aquarii is a yellow G-type giant 502 light-years away, an evolved sibling of the Sun. If we could travel several billion years forward in our own star's life, we would meet something like it: swollen, cooler, far more luminous. It glows in Aquarius, a zodiac region associated with great rains and the ancient Mesopotamian water calendars. Its light set out in the late fifteenth century.
