What is Musica
Musica received its name in honour of an orchestral composition and was officially assigned in the twenty-first century during an international campaign to christen new stars. It lives in Delphinus, the celestial dolphin that Greek myth placed near the eagle. A yellow G-class star 245 light years away, it is the confirmed home of a giant extrasolar planet that orbits it.
Where it is and when to see it
Musica lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
