Its story
17 Delphini glows orange from 480 light-years away, a K-type giant set in the small, elegant Dolphin. Its surface, cooler than the Sun's, radiates the warm tone characteristic of stars that have outgrown maturity. At magnitude 5.19, right at the threshold of the naked eye under dark skies, it accompanies the Dolphin's diamond as it seems to leap between Eagle and Pegasus through summer nights.
