Iota Delphini is a white A-type star about 189 light-years away, in the small silhouette of the dolphin that leaps between the Eagle and Pegasus. The constellation is tiny but beloved —a marine emblem sent skyward for having persuaded the nereid Amphitrite to accept Poseidon. Iota shines on the curve of the back, part of the leap's impulse.
