What is Beta Triangulum
Beta Trianguli is the brightest beacon of the modest Triangle —three points that the ancients saw as a delta traced north of Aries—. At some 127 light-years, its white type-A glow conceals a spectroscopic system whose two components orbit each other in barely thirty-one days. A discreet star that nonetheless anchors one of the cleanest constellations of the northern autumn sky.
Where it is and when to see it
Beta Triangulum lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
