What is 12 Triangulum
12 Trianguli is a white-yellow F0III giant 162 light-years away, two and a half times the Sun's size and around fifteen times more luminous. Its estimated age is 2.19 billion years, and radial-velocity measurements show it drifting toward the Solar System at 25 km/s. It inhabits Triangulum —one of the rare constellations whose shape, three stars sketching exactly what its name announces, is literally unambiguous—.
Where it is and when to see it
12 Triangulum lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
