In Sagittarius, facing the heart of the Milky Way, glows an orange K-type giant 234 light years away. Its light set out while Bach was composing his Goldberg Variations in Leipzig. Cooler than the Sun yet far larger, it pours forth an amber, restful gleam typical of stars that have already left their youth behind.
