What is Iota Arietis
Iota Arietis is an orange star at 520 light-years, inside the modest yet ancient zodiacal Ram. Its warm light reveals an atmosphere noticeably cooler than the Sun's, typical of giants that have already left simple hydrogen burning behind. A calm orange flame anchored in the constellation that for centuries marked the start of the astronomical year, when the spring equinox crossed the threshold of the celestial Ram.

Iota Arietis lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is October: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
