Its blue light left Sagittarius around the year 705, when the Visigoths were yielding Hispania to the Umayyad advance and Irish monks were copying the first illuminated gospels. It is a B-type star, blazing, of an intense bluish-white that betrays extreme temperatures. Sagittarius points toward the heart of the Milky Way, where the sky thickens with nebulae and stellar swarms.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 91014 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is June: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
