Highly luminous starIts story
22 Andromedae is a luminous yellow giant of class F2II, about 1,200 light-years away from Earth. Its radius is more than 33 solar radii and it pours out over 1,600 times the Sun's total energy output: a swollen furnace that has already completely burned through its core hydrogen reserves. Visible only under clean skies, it looks humble —yet it is actually one of the lanterns lighting the outline of Andromeda.
