Hot blue starIts story
2,265 light-years away, in the body of the Scorpion, lives one of the sky's most extreme stars: a type-O ember, intense blue, whose light departed when the Roman Empire still stood and Carthage smouldered under Scipio. Its surface exceeds thirty thousand degrees and its intrinsic brilliance equals that of hundreds of thousands of suns. It lives fast and will die young, likely as a supernova. It is the hot youth of the cosmos taken to its absolute limit.
