Its type-B surface easily exceeds twenty thousand degrees, a temperature that tints every emitted photon electric blue. The light crossing the eye tonight broke free toward the seventeenth century, when it was still being debated whether the Earth turned around the Sun.

11 Scorpii lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky.
