Hot blue starIts story
12 Scorpii burns with the blue fury of massive B-type stars, some 303 light-years along the back of the Scorpion. Its surface, tens of thousands of degrees hotter than the Sun's, radiates intensely blue light rich in ultraviolet —the unmistakable seal of young, massive stars—. The light we sense today set out around 1722, when Bach was publishing the first book of The Well-Tempered Clavier.
