Variable star

Its story

Iota Trianguli Australis is a variable F-type star 127 light-years away, set within the compact Southern Triangle. Its light does not hold perfectly still: it pulses with the subtle rhythm of a yellow-white star crossing an instability strip. The constellation, one of the crispest figures of the southern sky, was traced by Dutch navigators as an austral counterpart to the older northern Triangle and is recognised by its near-geometric outline.
