Lam

Variable star

Its story

Lambda Librae burns 310 light-years away as a hot blue-white B-type star, faintly variable. The celestial scales —once held by the Greeks as the claws of Scorpius— were carved out as an independent constellation by the Romans to honour justice. Within that symbolic figure, Lambda occupies a quiet place, far from the greenish glow of Zubeneschamali and the reddish Zubenelgenubi.
