Variable star

Its story

48 Librae is a hot, fast B-type star that spins so quickly it flings tenuous rings of gas around its equator. That behaviour makes it a Be variable, brightening and dimming as fresh shells of matter peel away. It burns about 468 light-years away in the Scales, a constellation once seen as part of the Scorpion's outstretched claws.
