Chi Lupi burns blue some 195 light-years away, inside the ancient Scorpius-Centaurus stellar association, the closest nursery of young massive suns to the Earth. It is a chemically peculiar B-type star, known for its strange overabundance of heavy elements levitated in its atmosphere by the pressure of its own light. An atomic curiosity dressed in pale fire.

Chi Lupi lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is May: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
