Lambda Lupi burns roughly 777 light-years away inside Lupus, a southern constellation the ancient Greeks linked to a beast pierced in mid-air. This blue B-type star pours out far more energy than the Sun; the light now visible to the naked eye left its surface when Europe was barely beginning the Renaissance.
