Its story
ζ¹ Muscae sits within the small southern Fly, some 327 light-years away. It is an orange-tinted K-type star, suspected of having an unseen companion detected through its astrometric wobble. Its low brightness, magnitude 5.73, keeps it on the very edge of what the human eye can catch; southern observers find it 2.6° west of β Muscae.
