What is HIP 60221
Within the modest Crow, 201 light-years away, glows an orange K-type star that has already left its youth behind. Its light set out toward us while Napoleon was signing the Peace of Tilsit with Tsar Alexander I, redrawing Europe. Cooler than the Sun, its warm hue reveals a surface near 4,500 degrees and a dense atmosphere riddled with molecules that filter its light.

HIP 60221 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is March: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
