Variable starIts story
In Corvus, the small raven of the southern sky, beats a yellow-white F-type star whose brightness changes with a subtle pulse, as if breathing slowly. Its light takes around 257 years to reach us: what we see today set out around 1768, when Captain Cook was sailing the Endeavour to observe the transit of Venus from the Pacific. Corvus, brief and sharp, was already cataloged by Ptolemy in the second century.
