What is Chi Piscium
Chi Piscium is an evolved, solitary G-type giant drifting through the scattered region of Pisces at 384 light-years from the Sun. Its golden-orange tone, midway between solar yellow and the copper of K giants, marks a star in full transit toward maturity: a sphere of gas beginning to swell after burning through the fuel of its youth.
Where it is and when to see it
Chi Piscium lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is October: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
