What is HIP 53252

Over the long body of Hydra shines an F-class star, yellow-white and somewhat hotter than the Sun, lying a little over a hundred light-years away. The light that now defines it set out as Europe was sinking into the First World War and the first aeroplanes were timidly crossing the sky. Its pearly, almost metallic tone marks that stellar frontier between the Sun's yellow and the cooler white of Sirius.

HIP 53252 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is March: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
