Its story
38 Lyncis is in fact a multiple system about 125 light-years away, in one of the sparsest constellations of the northern sky. A modest telescope splits it into two blue-white components separated by 2.6 arcseconds, bound by an orbit estimated at 429 years. The fainter companion is itself so tight a pair that only speckle interferometry resolves it —a small stellar matryoshka hidden behind a single blue spark.
