Its story
15 Lyncis is in fact a binary system 178 light-years away, made of a yellow G5 giant and a hotter F-type companion. The primary spans nearly seven solar radii and shines around 33 times brighter than the Sun, in a stretch of Lynx with no bright neighbours to compete. Modest to the unaided eye, through a telescope it resolves into an uneven pair of fires orbiting in silence.
