Hot blue starIts story
16 Puppis is a hot blue B-type star burning on the far shore of Puppis, a constellation carved out when the ancient Argo Navis was split into three. At 465 light-years, its light has been travelling since the heart of the sixteenth century, long before any modern atlas labelled it with a number. Its sharp, cold radiance stands apart from the muted reds of the giants scattered across this southern field.
