Its story

Deep within Puppis burns a red giant 209 light-years away, an M-type ember breathing in slow, irregular pulses. Its light set out when the nineteenth century was opening the doors to photography, and even today it shifts under the astronomers' gaze. Its glow waxes and wanes like a cosmic heartbeat, reminding us that stars also age with grace. Cooler than the Sun, its orange blush announces an ending still very far away.
