Hot blue starIts story
In the Stern of the ancient Argo Navis, this blue B-type giant burns 1,647 light years away, a light that set out when the Normans were conquering southern Italy. Its magnitude 4.1 glow crosses the southern skies with the electric chill of the hottest stellar furnaces. It belongs to that lineage of stars that live fast and consume their hydrogen in a fraction of the time the Sun will take to age.
