What is 68 Geminorum
68 Geminorum is a white A-type star 424 light-years away, a distant light within the winter realm of the Twins. Its modest brightness slips between the two sibling figures that gave the constellation its name, in a stretch of sky crossed by the plane of the Milky Way. The light we see tonight set out before Galileo wrote his «Sidereus Nuncius».
Where it is and when to see it
68 Geminorum lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is January: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
