Hot blue starIts story
In Canis Major, beside the faithful hound of the hunter Orion, blazes a blue B-type giant more than 1,400 light-years away. Its white-blue light set out in the early Middle Ages, as Muslim armies landed on the Iberian Peninsula and the slow forging of Al-Andalus began. Thousands of times more luminous than the Sun, its cold gleam reminds us that the winter sky also pulses with suns of violent youth.
