Its glow travelled 937 years: it left around 1089, as Urban II was preparing in Rome the Synod of Piacenza, prelude to the First Crusade. Far hotter than the Sun, it pulses like a distant lighthouse breathing in silence.

HIP 35951 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is January: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
