10 Canis Majoris shines in the realm of Sirius, the Greater Dog, and reveals the blue-white colour of hot, energetic B-type stars. It is also faintly variable: its brightness is not quite constant, but oscillates with the pulse of its atmosphere. Far from the white roar of Sirius, it offers a blue counterpoint, discreet, in a region of the sky dominated by one of the brightest beacons of the firmament.
