Some 366 light-years away, in Canis Major, burns this orange giant of type K. Its light set out toward the century of Bach and Voltaire, when enlightened reason was beginning to redraw Europe. Cooler than the Sun yet far larger, it spills the warm tone of molten copper within a constellation that barks eternally at Orion's feet, faithful to the hunter it pursues across the winter sky.
