Hot blue starIts story
11 Canis Majoris is a hot blue ember south of Sirius, almost drowned in the Great Dog's glare. It belongs to the B type, surfaces burning far above the Sun's temperature and pouring more energy into the ultraviolet than into visible light. Its glow needs some eight hundred years to cross the space between us: it left when medieval cantigas still echoed across the Iberian kingdoms.
