Star profile
HIP 35020
Hot blue starWhat is HIP 35020
On the hull of the Stern constellation burns a blue-white star whose light departed 376 years ago, around the time Newton published his «Principia» and the foundations of knowledge shifted. A type-B ember, its surface far exceeds the Sun's six thousand degrees and its brilliance equals that of hundreds of suns combined. It does not flicker, does not dim: it burns with steadfast constancy. Across the southern skies it reigns with a quiet elegance.
