16 Monocerotis is a blue B-type star in the Unicorn, a modern constellation drawn in the seventeenth century over a region poor in bright stars but rich in open clusters. Its high temperature turns it into a bluish beacon in a discreet stretch of the firmament. Its light crosses more than eight hundred years of interstellar space.
