Its story
It shines in Monoceros, the celestial unicorn —a modern, quiet constellation gliding beside Orion. Its orange light, proper to K-class stars, set out a little more than a thousand years ago, when the first Christian millennium was about to close and European kingdoms lived under the shadow of the apocalyptic fears of the year one thousand. It is a far-distant orange giant, far broader than the Sun. Its warm tone offers a point of contrast among the bluer stars populating that region of the sky.
