134 Tauri is a blue B9IV subgiant some 249 light-years away, on the northern flanks of the Bull. Its luminosity exceeds the Sun's by more than eighty times, burning at nearly twice our star's temperature. Faint to the unaided eye, it has nonetheless been chosen for chemical-abundance studies of B and A stars —research that dissects its atmospheric inventory, element by element.
Where it is and when to see it
134 Tauri lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
