Hot blue starIts story
It pulses in Orion, the most celebrated hunter of the firmament, near the stars that trace his shield and belt. A blue B-type giant, hundreds of times more luminous than the Sun. Its light set out more than 1,500 years ago, deep in the Early Middle Ages, just as the Western Roman Empire was breathing its last. Young, massive and violent, it will close its life in a memorable explosion —but not yet.
