What is HIP 24109
It carries the barely-golden white of an F-type star in Auriga, a northern winter constellation. Its light took just over 158 years to arrive: it set out in the mid-nineteenth century, when the railway was weaving Europe together and the internal combustion engine was being invented. Slightly hotter and more luminous than the Sun. In Auriga, anchored by its main yellow star, this light keeps a secondary but clean position.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 24109 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
