What is Epsilon Leporis

ε Leporis shines within the Hare, the small figure crouched at the feet of Orion. It is an orange giant 213 light-years away, swollen to forty times the Sun's radius and cooled to about 4,130 K. Its glow looks still, yet it belongs to a star that has already spent the hydrogen at its core and is drifting, unhurried, toward its final transformation.

Epsilon Leporis lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December, when it culminates around midnight.

From London it culminates about 16° above the horizon.
From New York it culminates about 27° above the horizon.
From Sydney it culminates about 78° above the horizon.

It can be seen from anywhere south of 68° N.
