Mu
Variable starIts story
Mu Leporis shines in the head of the Hare, right beneath the feet of Orion. It is a peculiar magnetic variable of the Bp type —a blue-white star whose light wavers gently with its rotation, surfacing exotic chemical elements in its atmosphere. At 186 light-years, its flicker escapes the naked eye but not the astronomers who have tracked it since the late twentieth century.
