What is 63 Eridani
63 Eridani is a G-type star 176 light-years away, similar to the Sun in colour but more mature and luminous. It lives in Eridanus, the long celestial river that winds from Orion down toward the southern sky. Its yellowish light crosses a region rich in faint stars that few know how to recognise outside the southern hemisphere.

63 Eridani lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
