What is Delta 2 Tauri
Delta-2 Tauri belongs to the Hyades open cluster, the closest stellar group to Earth and the unmistakable triangular head of the Bull. It shares with its sisters a single motion through the galaxy, inherited from a common birth some six hundred million years ago. Its cool white tone contrasts with the red of Aldebaran, which only appears to be part of the cluster from our line of sight.
Where it is and when to see it
Delta 2 Tauri lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
