Variable starIts story
In Taurus, that ancestral figure of the northern winter sky, beats a B-class variable, blue and hot, whose light oscillates faintly over time. That light set out around 1471, at the height of the printing boom after Gutenberg, when the first incunabula were circulating through European universities. Five and a half centuries on, its blue pulse crosses the bull's horn and lands, alive, in our telescopes.
